Sakakida Keiji
Bio
Sakakida Keiji was a Japanese actor who enjoyed a prolific film career spanning several decades.
Sakakida debuted in film around 1921, appearing in a number of pre-war silent and early sound films. He worked with various studios, including Nikkatsu, Takamatsu-Azuma, Empire Kinema, and Makino Talkie, before finally landing at P.C.L. in 1937, the studio that would eventually be reorganized into Toho.
After the war, Sakakida appeared in numerous uncredited supporting and extra roles for Toho. He appeared in many major sci-fi productions, beginning with a notable credited role in the original Godzilla (1954), where he played Mayor Inada of Odo Island, the town attacked by Godzilla in the first half of the film. He continued making brief appearances throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
One of his final recorded film appearances was in Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975), seen in a photograph as one of a group of scientists restraining Hirata Akihiko's character.
