A prolific Toho contract player, Hinata Kazuo was a fixture in the studio's special effects productions of the 1950s and 60s. He was frequently typecast in "observer" roles, often appearing in the background as a reporter, military officer, or scientist reacting to the monster of the week.

His acting career ended in 1971 with the dismantling of Toho's exclusive actor system. Unlike many contemporaries who sought work elsewhere, he reportedly served as a union leader during the negotiations, advocating for retirement allowances for the dismissed actors. He retired from the industry following these events, and his subsequent activities are unknown.

According to Japanese Wikipedia, his hobbies included swimming and oil painting, and his blood type was A.
