Ogata Rinsaku

Ogata joined Toho in 1952 and became a staple of the studio's background cast. His stern, intense features made him a natural fit for military roles, and he can be spotted playing soldiers, police officers, and guards in countless films.

Genre fans might recognize him as the police officer in the opening scene of The Human Vapor (1960) or as Gorô, one of the first victims of the Meganulon in Rodan (1956). His filmography reads like a checklist of Toho's Golden Age, with appearances in Godzilla (1954), The Mysterians (1957), The Hidden Fortress (1958), and Yojimbo (1961).
