Shibuya Hideo
Bio
Shibuya Hideo was a regular Japanese supporting actor at Toho. For a brief period between 1961 and 1962, he used the stage name Mitsui Shinpei.
Shibuya was a longtime exclusive contract actor for Toho, appearing as an extra or background character in nearly every major Toho sci-fi production of the Golden Age. He was also a regular in the popular Young Guy film series, and notably appeared in all three entries of the "Mutant Trilogy" (The H-Man, The Secret of the Telegian, The Human Vapor).
Possessing a naturally stern expression, Shibuya was almost perennially typecast as a stereotypical cynical or skeptical reporter questioning the authorities throughout giant monster films, or occasionally as similarly stern policemen or soldiers.
He ultimately retired in the early 1970s when the old studio contract system collapsed.
